Why hand washing matters more here than most places
Automatic tunnels drag the same brushes across every vehicle ahead of you, and in a region this dusty those brushes are carrying grit. That is the single most common source of swirl marks we see in Central Oregon. We wash by hand instead, which is gentler on the finish and lets us get into the areas a tunnel misses.
Wash alone, or wash plus protection
A wash gets the vehicle clean today. Protection changes how it behaves between washes, which out here is the part that matters:
- Spray wax (+$50) lasts up to about six months and is the practical choice for most daily drivers
- Paste wax (+$100) lasts one to two years and gives noticeably deeper gloss
- A ceramic coating goes further again, from six months to eight years, with prep included
- Tire shine is included with the exterior wash either way
- Paint still feels rough after a wash? A Decontamination Wash (from $145) uses a clay mitt and mineral-removing soaps to lift the grit and spots a normal wash leaves behind
